Help Choose America’s Favorite Book

During the May 22 launch for The Great American Read!

Join Mesa County Libraries and Rocky Mountain PBS in helping choose America’s favorite book as part of The Great American Read – a national effort to spark a conversation about reading and the books that have inspired, moved, and shaped Americans. Readers are encouraged to read books from the list, vote for their favorite, and share their personal connections to the titles.

The launch event will unveil a list of the 100 most-loved American books, and you’ll be able to discuss which are your favorites. The launch event is open to the public at no charge.

Gather with fellow readers to watch the national program from 6:15-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Mesa County Libraries Central Library, 443 N. 6th St. in Grand Junction with a reception to discuss your favorites begining at 6:15 p.m., and a screening of the national event at 7 p.m.

You will also be able to record short video testimonials about your favorite books, with the testimonials posted to social media during the launch event and at other Mesa County Libraries events this summer!

Don’t forget: BOOK DISCUSSION EVENTS

The Mesa County Libraries are hosting two Great American Read Book Discussions, where people can share their favorite books from the list of 100 titles.

The events are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the Central Library. There’s nothing new to read for the discussion – just be prepared to share your favorite title from the list!

Registration for the book discussions is required by calling 970-243-4442 or visiting the library’s Event Calendar at mesacountylibraries.org.
